Description
Products created by natives living in la Puna region, following ancestral traditions, and weaving techniques that have been passed down through generations. These garments are made with 100 percent llama wool, combined with sheep wool and/or cotton, giving them attractive natural colors and texture. They are really smooth and warm and can be worn or used as bed scarf or throw on a sofa, to provide warmth in chilly weather.
The term Puna has Quechua origin and means ‘high altitude region’. It is a raised plateau more than 3,000 meters (9,900 feet) above sea level. Continuing the great Bolivian plateau, the Argentine Puna covers mainly the west of Jujuy, Salta, and Catamarca. Despite the cold and persistent wind and the thin air from the altitude, the Puna has been inhabited by man for millennia and is home to aboriginal ruins, colonial churches, and ghostly mining towns.
